Have you met Ssidney?

By "cracking the code" one can understand the plan behind the virus
and why it is such a dreadful disease. Understanding the enemy is the start to planning a defence.

SSIDNEY is a character developed by Stella Heuer to explain how the HI virus works. It is a simple yet unforgetable device that clearly illustrates some fairly complex information in a way that everyone can relate to and remember.

SSIDNEY is an acronym that represents the "master plot" of the HI Virus.

Small and Silent  -  you cannot see or hear the enemy
Intelligent  -  when one understands what the virus does to the immune system one can appreciate the "intelligence" and "craftiness" of the virus, which makes it so dangerous.
Deadly - the ultimate aim of the virus is to bring death and destruction to as many as possible.
Never  -  everyone believes that this is something that will happen to others ".... never me!"
Enjoyment  -  the virus strikes during times when people are relaxing and enjoying themselves, ie sex, drugs...
Youth  -  the virus particularly strikes the sexually active population aged 15 to 45 years old.
